Because custom shutters are made to customer provided specifications, orders are not changeable or cancelable once an order is processed.
The recipient of the delivered goods must immediately open all cartons and inspect all contents.
In the unlikely event that an order arrives damaged, it is in the best interest of all parties to find a swift resolution. Discovery of shortage or damage is the customer’s responsibility. ShutterLand must be notified within 7 days of receipt of defective merchandise and before the shutters are altered in any manner or installation is attempted.
Document visible freight damage on the delivering driver’s freight bill and take pictures of the crate or boxes. Keep all packing for future inspection by the freight company and possible return to the factory.
The following information will be needed to fully evaluate the damage.
If installation will be performed at a later date, unpack and store shutters in a staggered upright configuration. Painted or primed finishes can be damaged by extended direct contact with other shutters or surfaces.
ShutterLand reserves the right to inspect, repair or replace products that are reported damaged.
ShutterLand’s warranty grants to the original purchaser that wood, composite or PVC exterior shutters, properly finished and properly maintained, will be free from defects that render the shutter unusable or unfit for ordinary applications for a period of one year from the date of sale. Shutters need to be installed in accordance with the installation guidelines posted online specific to the style and material ordered.
ShutterLand warrants that exterior shutters will be free of material manufacturing defects for the life of the shutter. After the initial one year period, rot or any deterioration is specifically excluded from the warranty.
Contact ShutterLand to make a warranty claim. Include the order number (starting with SX), written description of the defect(s) and corresponding pictures of the defect(s). ShutterLand will evaluate the documentation to determine if the warranty claim is valid. ShutterLand has the right to request additional information. If the evidence is inconclusive, ShutterLand reserves the right to require the shutter(s) be returned by the owner to the original manufacturing facility for a physical inspection.
Non-defective or altered products will be returned freight collect without credit being issued or repair being made.
ShutterLand has complete authority to determine if the product needs to be repaired or replaced for a valid warranty claim.
Shutters to be repaired will need to be returned to the original manufacturing facility. Repairs will be made as quickly and efficiently as possible and returned to the original shipping address.
Shutters outside of the scope of repair will need to be remade. Production time is approximate and based on the current estimates.
Repair or remake of any defective product will be done only to the original size and specifications.
The warranty covers one-way return transportation cost from the manufacturing facility to the original shipping address. Packing and shipping costs to the manufacturing facility are not included. ShutterLand is not liable for damage incurred in route to the factory.
If a claim is found to be invalid, repair or replacement will be paid for by the customer.
This warranty does not include any conditions or damages caused as a result from accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, misapplication, exposure to the elements, fire, flood, improper maintenance, failure to follow use or care instructions, or acts of God. This warranty does not cover any servicing costs incurred for installation adjustment or minor repairs or conditions characteristic to the product caused by normal wear and tear. ShutterLand will not be responsible for trip charges, measuring, disassembly, removal, installation, refinishing, reassembly, or packing costs.
ShutterLand is not responsible for faulty installation, incorrect measurements, incorrect specifications, alteration, or unauthorized repair charges by any other party.
ShutterLand manufactures exterior grade shutters to industry standards. Minor imperfections or small blemishes are not considered defects. Paint chips or scrapes that can be easily covered with touch-up paint are not considered defects and will need to be repaired by the customer. Minor damage to the back side of composite shutters is not considered a defect.
Warp of any component that does not exceed 1/16″ per foot will not be considered a defect. Factory paint finishes are not covered after one year from the date of sale.
ShutterLand warrants its vinyl shutter products (which are installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s published installation instructions) against any defects in material or workmanship causing breaking, cracking, splitting or warping, for as long as you own the home or building on which the shutters were originally installed. This warranty is non-transferable. Coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer ownership of your shutters.
All claims must be accompanied by proof of purchase together with the owner’s name, address, telephone number, and brief description of the problem. In order to honor warranty, the customer must comply with reasonable manufacture requests in order to determine cause of problem. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state.
In the event of defect (as described above), ShutterLand should first be given reasonable opportunity to determine its possible responsibility prior to any repairs or replacements being made and the defective shutters must be returned to ShutterLand, PREPAID. Upon receipt and at its option, ShutterLand will repair or replace the defective shutters and return the repaired or replaced shutters to the claimant.
ShutterLand is not responsible for any costs or expenses incurred in the removal or reinstallation of its product nor is it responsible for any inconvenience, commercial loss, incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation may not apply to you. This warranty does not cover damages or defects caused by product misuse or abuse, improper installation, fire, weathering or acts of God such as hurricanes, tornadoes or hailstorms.
Shutters are packaged and shipped to the designated shipping address after they have been fully manufactured. Shipments are not announced in advance of departure. In the event the transport company is prevented from making a successful delivery, the customer may be responsible for and assessed redelivery and/or storage fees.
UPS and FedEx shipments are shipped without a recipient signature required. Freight carriers often contact the customer to make a delivery appintment. If the customer is unavailable or does not respond, the delivery will be made without an appointment after the second failed communication attempt.
